The Project
The ways we grow and share food have always been the heart of our communities, our cultures, and our survival. But today, the dominant food system is killing us. The shift towards large-scale, industrial, monoculture-based agriculture has corresponded with a sharp decline in humanity’s ability to support life. Globally, food systems are the second largest contributor to climate change, and the primary driver of biodiversity loss. Food production and corporate profits are at an all time high. So is the number of people suffering from hunger and malnutrition. Food, our most basic unifier, is driving us apart — from one another, from non-human beings, and from Earth.
But across the US, communities are redefining agriculture and reclaiming their right to feed themselves on their own terms. In early 2022, Regenerosity and A Growing Culture partnered to amplify these stories. From Louisiana to Michigan to South Dakota, from Indigenous tribes, to urban Black farmers, to Queer land protectors, these communities are healing, transforming, and regrowing the relationships needed to cultivate life once again. Liberation Agriculture showcases their stories, inviting us to reimagine what true regeneration looks like.
The Partners
A Growing Culture
A Growing Culture is an international collective that develops communication campaigns with social movements to expand peoples’ capacity to imagine alternative worlds.
Regenerosity
Regenerosity envisions a world where communities thrive in healthy ecosystems supported by just and equitable flows of capital. We work towards this vision by flowing trust-based funds and partnering with community-based organizations that support thousands of indigenous and smallholder farmer communities around the world. We co-develop programs deeply informed by partner communities, at the intersection of food sovereignty, regenerative livelihoods, and ecological resilience.
